How Lash and Brow Tinting Works

For those who have fair eyelashes and eyebrows, it can be frustrating to pencil in their brows and put on dark mascara every day. Makeup fades throughout the day, and by the end of the day, your bold brow that frame your face in the morning may be gone. Mascara can also be uncomfortable for some. A great solution to both of these problems for those who want strong brows and dark eyelashes is to get tinting done, to help accentuate these areas for 4-6 weeks.
The procedure is relatively safe when done in a salon, and if you have sensitivities, you can ask your technician to do a patch test to make sure that you would not have any reaction to the tint. After your treatment, you will have beautiful brows that frame your face, and dark eyelashes that accentuate your eyes.

So how does this procedure work?

For both brow and lash tint, the client can be sitting in a chair with their head tilted back, or laying down on a spa table. Then before the areas can be treated they both need to be cleaned with makeup remover, just to make sure that they are free from any excess makeup, as well as a cleansed. They need to be free from all makeup and oils for the dye to take correctly.

When getting your eyelashes tinted, you have to look up before pads are applied to your undereye. These pads will be where your lashes sit and will help protect your eyes from the dye as well as your skin.

To start the tinting process, the technician will have you continue to look up and paint the bottom lashes downward against the pad on your undereye. Once the bottom lashes have been painted, you will be asked to close your eyes and the top lashes will be painted downward as well, so that they touch against the pad as well.

Then you have to wait for the tint to take around 10 minutes.

After the wait is over, the pads will be removed from under the eyelashes and with your eyes still closed your technician will use a dampened cotton pad with warm water to remove the product.

When brows are done, they are tinted in a very similar fashion. If the brows need to be waxed, then they are waxed before tint is applied to the brows. Afterward, the tint is painted onto the eyebrows where the hairs naturally grow.

Processing time for eyebrows is much shorter than it is for eyelashes. They take only 3-5 minutes with the tint on them to be completely dyed. After they have finished processing the technician will wipe the tint off with a cotton ball saturated with warm water.

Both eyelash and eyebrow tints will then last 4-6 weeks, at which time they will need to be reapplied, and brows will need to be waxed again if they were waxed at the same time as a tint was put on.
